Say it loud – Hear with Lyric !
I have been living with Hearing Loss for most of my Adult life and after years of missing out on the punchline, becoming an amateur lip reader and watching TV at excessive volume levels, I decided to do something about it, after gentle persuasion from my family !
After coming to terms that I required help with my problem, I began my journey by attending a leading Irish Eye & Ear consultant, who concluded that my only solution to improved hearing was to obtain hearing aids. He suggested that I make an appointment with Ann Kelly Hearing.
Now, the mere thought of wearing Hearing Aids made me hesitate and it was a big, big jump psychologically for me to take, as in my male dominated working environment, I was worried and self-conscious of any stigma that may attach !
From the outset, I was made very comfortable by Ann and received very professional and informed advice. After exploring all the options and types available, I chose a set of state of the art “Completely in the Canal” (CIC) aids.
They had instant impact and made a hugh difference to the quality of my life, but after years of wearing same, they just did not deliver the quality of hearing that I sought. It was so hard to describe, I could hear certain people and conversations, but not others. I was still missing out on certain whispered interactions and as the years passed, I attributed it to the fact that the aids were older and an upgrade in technology was required. There are only so many times you can ask someone to repeat themselves !
I arranged another consultation with Ann and we went through my options. She understood fully what I was looking for and she informed me about the newly introduced product to Ireland – Lyric by Phonak and offered me the opportunity to trial them for a period.
I am so glad I did. Ann has a dedicated suite in her practice to cater solely for Lyric and after establishing that my ear canals were suitable for the product, she fitted same in a short period. One of my ears did react slightly to the Aid initially, so Ann decided it best to delay fitting by a week. Again, Im so glad I did !
This product is fantastic, it is better than fantastic. It has totally transformed my life. My confidence is back. I can hear everything now, its like Night and Day from my previous experiences. The hearing quality is so natural and I can hear whispers again. There are no more battery changes and I do not have to remove them when playing football or having a shower. Lyric is inserted deep in the ear canal and you literally do forget that they are there. They cannot be seen in your ear and for me, this removes the self-conscious inferiority complex !
There are a number of payment options available and one takes out a contract with Phonak for the product. The beauty about this arrangement is that with advances in technology, this is passed immediately to the user when they return for their scheduled replacement date (2-3 months).
Phonak really have something special here and I whole-heartedly recommend Ann Kelly Hearing to deliver a high quality, professional and learned service.
